FAQs

Answers to some common roadside service questions
When can I call for Emergency Roadside Service?
Remember, it's YOU that is covered, not your car. If the car you are driving or riding in becomes disabled, you can call AAA for help. This includes rental cars. Note that road services for boat trailers and "for-hire" vehicles such as taxis and limousines are not AAA-covered expenses.
Do I have to provide my card to get roadside service?
Yes, our drivers will need to see your card. You should carry your card with you at all times.
What should I say when I call?
Please have the following information available when you call:
- Your name & membership number
- Expiration date or Renewal Date of membership
- Club Name & Club Code number (AAA Hudson Valley is 080) - ABOVE ITEMS ARE LISTED ON MEMBERSHIP CARD
- Make, model, color, year of vehicle
- License plate number and state
- Nature of trouble with your vehicle
- Exact location of the vehicle (town, borough, street, etc.)
- Nearest cross street
Can I share my membership card?
No, but it's easy to add Associate Members. They will be issued their own cards and will share the same AAA coverage plan that you have. Spouses, significant others, and dependent children under 21 living at the same address can be added as Associate Members.
How do I contact AAA Emergency Roadside Service?
You can call 800-AAA-HELP (800-222-4357). It's a good idea to save this number in your cell phone now. You can also call your local AAA office, use our online form or iPhone app.
What is considered an "Emergency"?
To be fair to all members and keep membership dues down, do not substitute emergency roadside service for routine maintenance. Call AAA for help when the car you're currently driving or riding in becomes disabled. Only call for emergency fuel delivery if you run out of gas while out on the road.
Can AAA pick up my car without me?
No. To keep our trucks ready when needed, you must be with your car when we arrive to help you. This helps ensure that you get efficient service. It also gets us back on the road to help the next member waiting for help.
Will the tow truck driver give me a ride?
Yes, you can ride in the tow truck and be dropped off at the nearest service location along with your car. Note that tow truck drivers are not authorized to take you anywhere else.
How many times can I call for emergency service?
Your membership includes 4 calls per membership per year. After 4 calls each year, you can still contact AAA for help, but you will be charged for towing and other services as needed.
Can a service station bill AAA for repairs?
No. However, if you need to pay for repairs resulting from a breakdown, AAA will guarantee member's check for up to $250. See your printed AAA Member Handbook for full details and disclosures. Additional handbooks are available at all of our local offices.
What if I need help and AAA service is not available?
AAA will reimburse you the prevailing commercial amount for services in the region where the work was performed. Submit an original invoice in the members name, along with our reimbursement form (PDF).
