Dress For Success: May-July 2021 Fundraiser
The mission of Dress for success Albany is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of employability
support and the development tools to help women and their families thrive in work and in life. Their vision is a world where women do not live in poverty; are treated with dignity and respect; and are strengthening their families and shaping their communities.
Dress for Success Albany is a proud program of Albany Community Action Partnership, the non-profit Community Action agency for Albany County.
This past year (as you can imagine) has been difficult for so many people, and disproportionately the majority of those who lost their jobs or were furloughed/laid-off during the pandemic were women. Many are referring to this as a “She-cession”, which is why programs like ours are so import to the community. Learn more about this worthy organization.

Go Red for Women: February 2021 Fundraiser
In February this year, AAA Hudson Valley recognized Heart Health Month by raising money for the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women campaign.
The more a woman knows about heart disease, the better chance she has of beating it. The first facts you need to know are very serious: Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year – more than all cancers combined. Fortunately, we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action.
Go Red For Women inspires women to make lifestyle changes, mobilize communities and shape policies to save lives. United, we are working to improve the health of all women. Learn more about this organization and the Go Red for Women campaign.

Holiday 2020 Fundraiser
United Way of the Greater Capital Region
Over the 2020 Holiday season and into the New Year, we supported United Way of the Greater Capital Region and their efforts in Covid Relief for the community. For every NEW gift membership purchased with promo code HOLIDAY in December, AAA Hudson Valley will be donating $5.00 to United Way. We also collected new/unused items at all four of our Travel Store locations.
United Way works to advance the common good in the Greater Capital Region by investing in the building blocks for a good life. These are the ability to meet BASIC NEEDS, the opportunity to receive an EDUCATION that leads to a job that pays well, a stable INCOME that provides long-term financial security, and resources to gain and maintain good HEALTH.
Their philosophy is that together, united, we accomplish more than any one person or single agency could alone. United Way understands that the challenges our community faces can seem overwhelming. But change is possible when we pool our dollars, our expertise and our effort, and focus on the issues that matter most, to help those who need it the most, in ways that achieve the greatest impact.
Uniting partners in a common mission: United Way brings donors, organizations and experts together to advance initiatives that tackle problems at their root. This increases our capacity to make lasting improvements in the social conditions that affect us all and prevents problems from occurring in the first place. United Way also strengthens our community through grant making to more than 80 carefully-reviewed programs that demonstrate the capacity to achieve measurable change in people's lives and social conditions. United Way monitors each funded program to make sure donated dollars are used efficiently and effectively.
