“Remember My Login” Use of Cookies

What is a cookie?

Cookies are pieces of information sent by a web server and stored on your computer for future reference. They contain information about how you are using a website and can track your movements through it. AAAHV uses two types of cookies:

  1. Session cookies which only last while you are on that particular website; and
  2. Persistent cookies, which are written on to your hard drive and can remain there permanently or until they reach their pre-assigned expiry date

How does AAA use persistent cookies?

AAAHV’s primary use of cookies is to make our website easier for you to use. Upon detection, your cookie entitles you access to virtually all of the Member or Guest areas on the website. With a cookie registered users do not have to log in with one exception; a user doing an on line transaction will be requested to log in. This allows AAAHV to know who within a family is doing the transaction.

AAAHV also uses cookies to track website visits, transmit potentially useful information, and personalize your future visits to the website. AAAHV’s cookies do not capture your individual email address or any private information about you. However, AAAHV may use the information provided on a consolidated basis for statistical and survey purposes and to improve the user friendliness of AAAHV’s website.

AAAHV may also use persistent cookies to remember what information has been presented to you, so that you don’t see it again. For example, if AAAHV has to communicate information to you through a pop-up message or temporary message, a persistent cookie will make sure that you only have to see the information once, rather than having to see it every time you visit our website.

What cookies cannot do
Cookies cannot read your hard drive or access files and information stored on your computer. They cannot reveal anything about you that you have not chosen to enter as a user on the site. We will not store any personal information such as your name, address or social security number

Do I have to accept cookies?
If you are concerned about accepting cookies, you can set your browser to not accept cookies or to warn you when you are about to receive one, and you can then choose whether to accept it or not. If you choose not to accept cookies, you may not be able to access some pages on our website and others may not function at optimum efficiency.
