Frequently Asked Questions

Navigate through our FAQ section to get all the essential information you need about our mobile tire service, all in one place for your convenience.

Why use AAA Mobile Tire Service?

AAA Mobile Tire Service offers unmatched convenience by delivering tire maintenance and replacement services directly to your location. This service is ideal for busy individuals who value time and convenience, providing professional tire care without the need to visit a service center. It’s a hassle-free way to ensure your vehicle remains in top condition, supported by the trusted AAA brand known for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Unsure about which tire is right for your vehicle?

No problem, one of our technicians will call you to help you select the tire that is right for you. Just email tire@aaahv.com or call 518-426-1000, option 3.

Who is eligible for tire service?

We offer this service to anyone in our territory, though members do receive a discount on this convenience service. The service area (your driveway for example) should be flat and a 5 foot perimeter around the vehicle is optimal.

How do I change my appointment?

You can manage your appointment in the email confirmation you received, or you can call 518-426-1000, option 3 or email tire@aaahv.com.

Can you provide emergency tire service?

Unlike our road service, the tire service is scheduled. If a member has a blow out or flat, our road service department would change the tire or bring the member to a shop for it to be repaired.

How do I know my tire size?

To determine the size of your tires, you can find the information printed on the sidewall of the tire. It typically follows a standardized format. Here’s how to decipher it:

Example: P215/65R16

P: This letter indicates the type of tire. In this case, “P” stands for Passenger. Other common letters include “LT” for Light Truck, “ST” for Special Trailer, and “T” for Temporary (spare tires).

215: This number represents the tire’s width in millimeters. In this example, the tire width is 215 millimeters.

65: This number is the aspect ratio, which represents the ratio of the tire’s sidewall height to its width. In this example, the sidewall height is 65% of the tire’s width.

R: This letter indicates the construction of the tire. “R” stands for Radial, which is the most common type of tire construction today.

16: This number represents the diameter of the wheel in inches. In this example, the tire is designed to fit a 16-inch wheel.

When do I replace my tires?

Here are some key indicators:

Tread Depth: Measure the tread depth using a tread depth gauge. The legal minimum tread depth varies, but a common guideline is 2/32 of an inch. If the tread depth is at or below this level, it’s time to replace the tires.

Tread Wear Indicators: Most tires have built-in tread wear indicators, which are small rubber bars that appear in the tread grooves when the tread wears down to a certain level. If these indicators are visible, it’s a sign that the tires need to be replaced.

Uneven Wear: Check for uneven wear patterns on the tires. Uneven wear can indicate alignment issues, improper inflation, or suspension problems. If you notice significant uneven wear, it’s a good idea to have the tires inspected and potentially replaced.

Cracks or Bulges: Inspect the sidewalls of the tires for any cracks, cuts, or bulges. These can be signs of internal damage or deterioration, and if present, the tires should be replaced.

Age of the Tires: Regardless of tread depth, tires should be replaced every 6 to 10 years, as rubber degrades over time. Check the DOT code on the sidewall to determine the age of the tires.

By regularly inspecting your tires and monitoring these indicators, you can ensure that your tires are in good condition and replace them when necessary to maintain safety and performance on the road.

Are tire services included in the price of the tires?

No, tire prices are charged separately. This is intentional in case you want to have tire services (without tire purchase) or have an add-on service you want on the day of service (like tire storage). The minimum service fee is $100 for members and $150 for non-members.

Do you offer this service for my company fleet?

Yes, we do have some clients with fleets that we service. We can accommodate tire sales and service for vehicles with passenger/light truck tires. Email us for more information!

Can I buy and have you install tires for my boat trailer or travel trailer?

Yes, we can provide the same services we offer for cars and trucks for your boat and travel trailers too all at the convenience of your preferred location.
