Travel Arrangements

ACCOMMODATIONS: CIE Tours reserves the right to substitute hotels for accommodations in similar categories. In the event that a specified hotel in certain destinations is unavailable due to limited hotel inventory, CIE Tours will make every effort to re-accommodate the booking to a hotel of a similar category. When booking pre- and post- stay nights, we provide estimated rates based on standard hotel availability. Final pricing is subject to confirmation and may increase due to seasonality or limited availability. In some cases, hotels booked on request may apply a supplemental fee at their discretion. If this occurs, we will notify you, and you may choose to accept or decline the revised rate.

AIR TRANSPORTATION: CIE Tours offers special airfares when combined with our land arrangements. These special airfares are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed until paid in full. Airfares are inclusive of all fuel, taxes and fees. Traveler must ensure that the name on the CIE Tours’ invoice matches the passport, as corrections or changes requested after reservation has been made are subject to cancellation or change fees. Airfares are guaranteed once they have been paid in full unless the airfare quoted at time of reservation is instant purchase which is only valid if paid in full and ticketed. CIE Tours is not responsible for penalties incurred for tickets, international or domestic, not issued by CIE Tours due to schedule and/or flight changes.

VISITS, ENTERTAINMENT, ITINERARIES AND OTHER FEATURES: CIE Tours reserves the right to substitute visits, entertainment and other features when establishments are closed or cannot be visited for reasons beyond our control, or for the general convenience of safety of the travelers.

Medical and Health

CIE Tours reserves the right to remove or quarantine any passenger who shows signs of illness, or who poses a threat to the safety and health of other passengers. Removal or quarantine of passengers for any health, safety, or behavior-related assessment is at the sole discretion of CIE Tours. Passengers will be allowed to rejoin CIE Tours with confirmed medical certification from a licensed health practitioner indicating that they are fit to travel without causing harm or posing a safety threat to other passengers.

Travelers with Special Needs

CIE Tours welcomes travelers with special needs on standard coach tours but requires that any physical assistance or accommodation be disclosed at the time of booking. Travelers needing such assistance must be accompanied by a qualified companion, as CIE Tours staff, drivers, and guides do not provide personal services such as wheelchair pushing or walking assistance.

Walking & hiking tours are designed for active travelers who can comfortably walk 5-6 hours per day on varied terrain. These tours are not appropriate for individuals with mobility limitations, those who require assistive devices, or anyone for whom sustained walking would be a challenge.

Tour coaches are not equipped with wheelchair ramps, and all travelers must be able to climb 3-4 steps to board. Motorized scooters are generally unsuitable for our tours but may be possible for private driver vacations. Walking and hiking tours require a higher level of physical fitness and are not suitable for travelers with mobility limitations.

If a traveler has a medical condition, disability, or mobility limitation that may impact their trip, they must inform CIE Tours in writing at the time of booking and notify us of any changes before travel. Failure to disclose such needs may result in cancellation or termination of the booking if they pose a risk to the traveler, other travelers, or staff, or if the traveler is not accompanied by a required assistant. In such cases, no refunds or reimbursement for expenses will be provided.

CIE Tours is not responsible for denial of services by carriers, hotels, or other providers, nor for any additional costs incurred. Due to space limitations, requests to bring wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, or other assistive devices on standard guided coach tours must be submitted in writing for approval prior to booking.

Is tipping for tour staff included?

Tipping for tour staff is not included, but our tour crews go out of their way to make sure each experience during your vacation is nothing short of exceptional and appreciate recognition for their service. You are welcome to present individual tips to your tour staff in an envelope at the end your vacation, payable in local currency. Below are suggested minimum tipping amounts, per person/per day based on whether you are traveling on a standard motorcoach departure, small group departure or with a private driver. When enjoying a private tour, or in some cases when traveling on a guided coach vacation in Ireland you will have a combination Driver/Guide. In all other situations, you will have a 2-person crew of a Tour Director and a Driver.

How much walking is involved on the tour?

Many of our tours incorporate walking tours in interesting locations; most in Ireland and Britain are leisurely paced guided walks. Destinations such as Italy, Iceland & Spain are more active with itineraries that including walking over uneven surfaces, cobblestone streets, stairs and slopes. Some days involve three to four hours of walking and extended periods of standing. Due to driving regulations in certain historic cities, drop-off and pick-up points are set, necessitating additional walking to and from attractions. We recommend packing comfortable shoes with non-slip soles.
