One of the most common consumer complaints in America is unsatisfactory or unreliable car repairs. Because AAA cares about the driving experience of all its members — and every driver on the road — we created the AAA Approved Auto Repair (AAR) program. AAA repair shops have been inspected and certified by AAA to meet stringent quality standards in the following areas:

  • Community reputation
  • Facility appearance
  • Customer service
  • Staff qualifications and training
  • Tools and equipment

Why Use Approved Repair Shops

It can be stressful when an issue with your car requires a call to AAA roadside assistance, and the stress escalates quickly when you’re in an unfamiliar place, far from the auto repair shops you already trust. The AAR program means that no matter where you drive in the U.S., you can easily find approved repair shops that you can trust with your vehicle. The AAR program rates not only auto repair shops, but also auto body shops, service shops, and shops that specialize in motorcycle repair and maintenance.

If your car needs to be towed, AAA can help find a certified auto repair shop nearby that will evaluate your vehicle and take you and your car there safely.

Any driver can take advantage of approved repair shops by choosing to take their vehicles to shops that display the AAA approval badge. However, if you choose to become a AAA member, you can count on specific benefits from approved repair shops, including:

  • Priority Service: When AAA tows a member vehicle to an approved facility, the shop will make every attempt to diagnose the problem and complete repairs within an hour.
  • Written Estimate: Regardless of the size of the repair, AAA members get a written estimate of the cost of the work that needs to be done.
  • Discounts: Approved facilities provide members with a discount on customer-paid, retail-price repairs.
  • Alternate Transportation: If necessary, the approved facility assists AAA members in obtaining alternate transportation, which may include shuttle service, a loaner car, rental car arrangements, and calling a cab for the member.
  • Warranty: Unless otherwise specified in writing prior to the start of work, all repairs (both parts and labor) are guaranteed for a minimum of 24 months or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.
  • Free Maintenance Inspection: When having paid repair work done by an AAR facility, members can request vehicle inspections at no charge to look for problems that frequently contribute to roadside breakdowns.
  • Return of Parts: All replaced parts are returned to members, provided the request is made at the time the vehicle is delivered for service. Parts that must be returned to the manufacturer due to a warranty or exchange program are excluded but will be available for inspection when vehicles are picked up.
  • Dispute Resolution: AAA will investigate any dispute between AAA members and repair facilities. AAA’s resolution decision is binding for the facility, but members are not bound by AAA’s decision and may seek recourse through other avenues.

Note: AAA discounts are subject to change without notice and cannot be combined with other discounts. Present your valid AAA card to receive a discount. Discounts apply to customer-paid, retail-price repairs only and are not available on work that is paid for by a third party, such as an insurance company, including deductibles. Additionally, discounts do not apply to advertised specials, coupon offers, or menu-priced repairs. Other restrictions may apply.
