We talked to Judi about her love of all things Disney and got some updates for the year as well as travel tips for planning a Disney Parks vacation.

AAA: We hear you are a Disney Park specialist. Do you go to the parks often?

Judi: Yes! I visit the Disney Parks (mostly Walt Disney World Resort in Florida)  3 to 5 times a year! I love a Disney Trip!

AAA: Why is 2023 such a special year at the Disney Company?

Judi: The 18-month long 50th Anniversary celebration in WDW is ending in March.  This year, Disney is celebrating 100 years of wonder.

AAA: What types of things do people have to look forward to who are visiting the parks this year (on either coast)?

Judi:  New rides, new shows. In California, Disneyland Resort begins its Disney 100th festivities on January 27. They will also be bringing back the Magic Happens parade and have teased some great ticket pricing for guests who opt to visit one park per day. On this coast,  the highly anticipated Tron Lightcycle / Run finally opens at Magic Kingdom in April. We will also see the return of a fan-favorite, Happily Ever After nighttime firework spectacular at Cinderella Castle. There’s much more, but those are a few highlights.

AAA: Can you tell the readers a few of your favorite things to do at Walt Disney World Resort?

Judi: My favorite things to do are meeting as many of the characters as I can, and going to all the shows, including dinner shows.  I like going to character meals, quick-service and sit down restaurants.  There are some attractions that I frequent, although I must admit I am not a thrill rider.  I especially like all the different festivals, like the Annual Flower & Garden Festival and the International Food & Wine Festival at Epcot.

AAA: Do you have any insider tips that will help in planning a Disney trip to visit the Mouse?

Judi: Yes, do not try to do everything in one day.  Do your research, talk it over, and pick out things like must-do rides, character meet and greets, and dining. Try to plan with those things in mind.  No matter what your age, you need to plan a break.  When you have young ones, a nap or a swim back at your resort is a great option.  For adults, a nice sit-down lunch or dinner could do the trick.

AAA: What’s one more thing you want readers to know?

Judi: Disney is for adults as well as children.  I especially like going to the parks and seeing the faces of people of all ages when they walk down Main Street USA and see the Castle for the first time!
